    1. Once I make a purchase, will I be charged right away?

A charge will immediately appear on your bank statement under the name eBook Sale for the purchase of your ebook(s). We accept three major credit cards:

    1. What am I buying?
You are paying to get perpetual (100 years) access to the digital copy of AHA’s published books. Your purchase entitles you to view and read  AHA’s published books either online at http://ebooks.heart.org/ or offline on your PC/Mac with the iPublishCentral reader and on an iPad/Android Tablet using the AHA eBooks app depending on what format/mode you have opted for and paid for using the service.

When you purchase an electronic book or redeem a purchase code, you are gaining a right to read the purchased Content online as well as download it into a compatible reader on your own computing device. These are subject to any conditions and limitations due to the technology as well contractual agreements between AHA and its vendors.
    1. Are eBooks updated? Will I receive updates automatically
Individual AHA eBooks will be updated if/when errors, science changes or
other updates are needed. Also, eBook purchasers will have the opportunity
to be among the first to purchase new editions of AHA eBooks when they are
released.
    1. Sharing of eBooks among multiple users.
American Heart Association(AHA) does not encourage sharing of Username/Login credentials between multiple users.
eBooks purchased is for your personal use only and you are allowed to download and access the eBooks on a total of 3 devices exceeding which you will get an error message " Maximum device limit exceeded ".
 
    1. What is the return policy on an eBook?
As with all electronic AHA products, eBooks cannot be returned. Once the ebook is purchased, the sale is considered to be complete and final. Please note: If you did not purchase your eBook on this site, you must speak directly with the distributor or training center you purchased it from for further information.
    1. What is an eBook?
An ebook is an electronic version of a book. American Heart Association (AHA) eBooks allows users to read publications on any screen with a browser that supports Flash. AHA eBooks have the look of print books, with all the layout, figures and images intact. Users can change the font and font size in for close study. Users can read books online or download them to mobile devices for off-line reading.
    1. What can I do with my eBook?

In addition to reading and downloading, you can:

  • Search: AHA eBooks are searchable. You can search within a book or across your ebook library. 

  • Customize: You can highlight text on the screen; bookmark pages; or add notes throughout the ebook.

  • Easy Navigation: In addition to accessing books from your library, your notes, bookmarks, and highlights become part of your dashboard and quick links.

    1. Can I view a sample eBook?
All AHA eBooks have sample pages available through ViewInside that users can see before purchasing. Click the View Inside button for a free preview.
    1. Can I read my eBook right away?
Yes! AHA eBooks are available instantly on purchase; with no wait time for shipping or other delays.

How-to Guide

    1. How do I read AHA eBooks on my PC/Mac?
  • Open the eBooks site ebooks.heart.org on any modern browser that supports flash.
  • Click on the Login option located on top-right hand side panel and Sign in with your registered credentials (Username & Password)
  • Once you are successfully logged in, you will be redirected to your bookshelf page
  • You will see your subscribed eBooks with Online Reading Options.
  • Click on the Read Online to read the eBook online.
    1. How do I log into my account?
  • Click Login on the top right of the home page.

  • Type your username and password into the correct fields to log into your account.  

    1. How do I get started?

To make a purchase from the AHA eBooks store, you must first open an account.

  • Click here [Registration Link] to sign-up.

  • If you already have an account with AHA eBooks, please login [Login Link] to make your purchase.

    1. How do I change my password?

To change your password once logged in:

Click on My Folder 

Click on Profile Settings Drop down and Choose Change password

Enter your Last Name & Registered Email address and click on Submit.

    1. How do I share information on eBooks?
You can share the preview ViewInside of titles several different ways. When viewing the ViewInside, you can click on the envelope in the upper right to e-mail it to someone, or you can click on the + sign to post the widget to a social networking site or to get the widget code to paste into your own Web site.
    1. Once I’ve purchased, how do I find my eBooks?

Your subscribed eBooks appear under the Bookshelf tab with a Read Online Button .

    1. How do I get an AHA eBook?
You can purchase individual titles for the life of the edition through the AHA’s eBook website eBooks.heart.org
    1. Read your eBook offline on your Computer.

The eBook can be downloaded as long as the computer is online at the time.

  1. From My Bookshelf, click on the link to download iPublishCentral Reader (see instructions below).

  2. Follow the prompts to download and install the iPublishCentral Reader and the Adobe AIR program.

  3. You can then log in to your AHA eBooks -- use "ebooks.heart.org" as the site URL, do not use http// or https//.
    This will allow you to login to the reader without any problem. You will then have all of your titles available to you for offline viewing.

    1. Download iPublishCentral Reader

Please follow the below instructions to install the iPublishCentral Reader application to your PC/Mac and download the eBook to the iPublishCentral Reader.

Once you login using your account you will notice a button “Download iPublishCentral reader”.

Click on the download button to go to installation page. Click on Install button to set up iPublishCentral reader on your system.

When you use iPublishCentral reader for the first time, you need to login (right hand side).

 

Then enter the following information:

  • Log in as Normal user

  • Select Normal User.

  • Enter the URL "ebooks.heart.org" in the Site URL, do not use http// or https//. This will allow you to login to the reader without any problem.

  • Enter your user name in the Username field

  • Enter your password in the Password field

  • Click the Sign In button

  • If the login credentials are incorrect, then an error message will be displayed "Failed to Authenticate. Invalid Site Information".

  • Bookshelf displays the subscribed eBooks with a Download button.

The iPublishCentral reader will verify your account details. If the account details are correct, the reader will continue to load. 

Once loaded, you can see all the books that you have subscribed online with a download link for offline reading.

    1. Online Reader - How to add highlights & notes throughout the e-book?
Step 1: Place the Cursor at the beginning of the text you would like to select.
Step 2: Hold down the "left mouse button" and move the mouse (drag) over the text you want to select.
Step 3: Release the mouse button and choose the highlight color of your choice.

If you wish to make an annotation, click on Notes and a Pop Up Box will appear where you can type in the required text.

Long Press and hold over the text you would like to select.

Drag over the text you want to select.

Choose the highlight/Notes option

Select the color/underline or notes option

    1. How do I bookmark a page?

Bookmarks can be made by clicking on the Bookmark option as shown in the image.

 

    1. Where do I find the code for the Precourse Self-Assessment Test for ACLS ?
Please enter the code found at the bottom of page ii in the front of your course manual to access the student supplementary materials for your course.
 
The code and website can be found on the title page of the ebook. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page, Refer to the screenshot from the ACLS eBook below:

To access the student website for the ACLS , go to www.heart.org/eccstudent

Enter the code "algorithm" in the box and submit
 
    1. How do I redeem the Access Code?

 

*Access code redemption and purchases can only be done through the website( on your browser on a PC/Mac or an iPad) and not through the app* Please be informed , you do not need to redeem an access code if you have already purchased the eBook from this website.

You only need to redeem the access code if you have purchased the eBook from an authorized AHA eBooks distributor website( like World Point, Channing Bete , Laerdal etc.)

Follow the instructions below to redeem the Access Code.

  • Login to the American Heart Association eBook store  https://ebooks.heart.org/
  • After successful login, please open the Bookshelf page https://ebooks.heart.org//bookshelf
  • You will notice Redeem Access Code button here. Please click on it.
  • Enter your Access code in the given field and click on Redeem.

 

 

 

 

    1. How do I read AHA eBooks on my iOS device?

*Note to iOS 8 users

AHA eBooks supports the iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone, & iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or later.

  • Download the iOS app from the App store link https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=734453806&mt=8

  • Login to AHA eBooks using your registered credentials in the “Account” tab.
  • Then, tap on the “Close” button to close the “Account” window.

  • Next, you’ll tap on the “My Bookshelf” tab at the bottom of the iPad app.

  • Here, your purchased eBook(s) will appear to be grayed out. 

  • When you tap on the eBook, it will start downloading to the “My Bookshelf” in the app.

  • Once it is downloaded, tap on the eBook to read it.

    1. Can I print the eBook?

AHA eBook pages cannot be printed.

    1. How to access the student supplementary materials for your course?

The code and website can be found on the title page of the ebook. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page ii, Refer to the screenshot from the PALS eBook below:

To access the student website for the PALS , go to www.heart.org/eccstudent
Enter the code "providercourse" in the box and submit.

 

Technical Requirements

    1. Will the ebooks work with the Kindle App. What format are the ebooks in?
  • AHA eBooks are encrypted PDF/ePub files that can be accessed online through a browser on any PC/Mac. 
  • You can download the eBooks using the iPublishCentral Reader on to your PC/Mac.
  • You can download the eBooks on to an iPad using AHA eBooks iPad app. Instructions to access AHA eBooks on Android Tablets can be found HERE
  • eBooks subscribed through AHA eBook site cannot be downloaded as a file onto any devices and you cannot use a third party application to read these eBooks.
  • AHA eBooks cannot be downloaded/copied on to a pen/thumb drive.
  • AHA eBooks cannot be accessed on e-Ink based readers like Kindle/Nook/Kobo/Sony eReader etc.
  • eBooks subscribed through AHA eBookstore cannot be read on iBookstore or any other third party readers such as Stanza,Mobipocket Reader,Barnes and Noble eReader,The Microsoft Reader, Kindle for PC etc.
  • AHA eBooks cannot be printed.
